Bringing Back the American Chestnut Tree

American Chestnut Tree Conservation Field Course

For Undergraduate-Level Students:

Students are invited to participate in the American Chestnut fieldwork course. The course comprises of eight lessons which will be offered during the tree planting events and tree inspections during the fall and spring semesters of 2020-2021 academic year. The course is intended for students wishing to gain a foundation knowledge about the history and plight of the American Chestnut tree, tree care and maintenance, as well as the trees' importance in in the northeastern ecosystem, the impact of its demise on other species, and symbiotic relationships with companion plans and fungi.  Each lesson will include a set task and eight assignments.  The course will have assessment tests built in.
